Advanced Details: Closings for emails
At PTTEP, what is a professional closing for a technical/business email or letter?
Also known as a “closer,” “closing salutation,” or “valediction,” an email sign-off is a formal way of closing your message, just like ending a letter with “Sincerely yours”. So, what is the best way to end an email? In a professional email, you are safest choosing a sign-off like “Regards,” “Best regards,” or “Kind regards.”
Is sincerely appropriate for a technical/business email?
“Yours sincerely” and “Yours faithfully” should be reserved for formal emails and letters, such as job applications and technical/business correspondence. You’re unlikely to encounter these in day-to-day email correspondence. Therefore, “Regards” and “Best regards” are the best options for workplace emails at PTTEP
Today’s video and the attached document will help you with some more good examples of closings for your emails.
