Affect is a verb meaning “to produce an effect upon,” as in “The rainstorm offshore affected our work significantly – all work tasks had to be conducted more slowly and carefully.”
Effect is a noun meaning “a change that results when something is done or happens,” as in “At PTTEP, computers have had a huge effect on our work lives.” That is, computers have had a huge impact on our work lives.
