Basic Piping for Non-Piping Engineer

This course is designed for non-piping professionals who wish to gain a fundamental understanding of piping engineering. It offers a clear and practical introduction, empowering participants to better engage with piping-related tasks and collaborate effectively with piping engineers. By the end of the course, learners will:

This course is perfect if you’re new to piping or from a different field. It gives you the knowledge you need to confidently work on tasks related to piping engineering. This course consist of 6 modules as follows: 

1. Introduction to Piping Engineering 

This module provides an overview of piping engineering, starting with the basics. You'll learn what piping is, what piping engineering work involves, and finish with a concise module summary to reinforce your understanding. 

2. Piping Design 

In this module, you'll dive into the design aspects of piping systems. From layout and route studies to creating both 3D models and 2D drawings, this section covers essential design processes. The module also includes an example case study to illustrate the real project applications. 

3. Piping Stress Analysis 

Understanding stress in piping systems is critical to ensuring safety and reliability. This module covers the basics of stress, how to calculate it, and includes an example case to help apply theoretical knowledge in practical situations. 

4. Piping Material 

Choosing the right piping materials and components is essential for the success of any project. This module guides you through different types of piping components, how to select the appropriate materials, and how to interpret specifications and datasheets. It also touches on procurement support to ensure efficient project management. 

5. Piping Construction 

Learning about the different stages of piping construction, from fabrication and testing to installation. This module will give you a practical understanding of how piping systems are brought from concept to reality. 

6. Course Summary 

The final module wraps up the course, reviewing key takeaways from each section and solidifying your understanding of piping engineering. This summary will help ensure you're ready to apply what you've learned to real projects.
