Basic Mechanical Engineering For Non-Mechanical Engineer

This course is designed for non-mechanical professionals seeking a practical introduction to mechanical engineering. It provides a solid foundation in key concepts, principles, and types of mechanical equipment, explains the application of relevant codes and standards, and clarifies the scope and responsibilities of mechanical engineers, including how they coordinate with other disciplines in Facility Engineering (EFE/M). Ideal for those new to mechanical engineering or from other technical fields such as engineers, technicians, and operators, this course equips participants to confidently engage in mechanical equipment related tasks and collaborate effectively with mechanical engineers.

In this course, you will learn about:

Module 1 – Introduction

This module provides an overview of Mechanical Engineering, starting with the basics. You'll learn what Mechanical Engineering is and what work it involves.

Module 2 - Mechanical Static Equipment

In this module, you'll dive into different types of Static Equipment used in industries like Oil and Gas. This section covers the relevant Codes and Standards, and the software used for design and verification.

Module 3 - Mechanical Rotating Equipment

Understanding the essential machinery that moves is critical. This module covers various types of Rotating Equipment used in the Oil and Gas industry, along with their associated Codes, Standards, and operational guidelines.

Module 4 - Mechanical Engineer’s Scope of Work

This module details the responsibilities of Mechanical Engineers in the Facility Engineering Department (EFE/M) across the project lifecycle, including Engineering Study, Front-End Engineering Design (FEED), and Detailed Engineering. You'll also learn about preparing engineering documents and the testing phases, such as the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and Site Acceptance Test (SAT).

Module 5 - Summary

The final module wraps up the course, reviewing key takeaways on Mechanical Equipment, Codes, and Standards. It also solidifies your understanding of the Mechanical Engineer’s scope of work and emphasizes the importance of effective cross-disciplinary collaboration.
