Remember that gerunds are words that are formed with verbs but act as nouns. To find gerunds in sentences, just look for a verb + ing that is used as a noun. Gerunds are a combination of a noun and a verb. Gerunds are formed by adding “-ing” to the verb: “sleeping,” “drawing,” “swimming.” But they are not the “-ing” verb forms that you see in the present or past continuous tense. They look the same, but gerunds are actually verb forms used as nouns.
