“Respond” is the verb and “response” is the noun. You respond by sending a response.
Respond is a verb. Respond describes the action of replying. Examples:
- I will respond to your email when I come back.
- We are so sorry for not being able to respond to all of you earlier.

Response is a noun. Examples:
- We got a quick response to our email.
- I am writing in response to your proposal of July 17.
